The Ashbury Academy For Young Men
The Ashbury Academy for Young Men, founded in 1878 in Kirby, Massachusetts, is one of the leading preparatory schools for the nation's gifted and financially privileged sons. It's located in an affluent suburb just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, across the street from the equally prestigious Ivy Institution for Young Women. The Academy's programs are among the most elite and exclusive, seeking only the best in athletics, arts and sciences. No one applies to The Academy, but nearly two hundred extremely talented young men are invited to attend each year. With it's apartment-style dormitories, Olympic-level gymnasium, award winning music and theatre program, The Academy provides each student with the means to succeed beyond all measures after leaving it's warm and inclusive community.
ashbury revolves around the lives of a select few individuals, focusing on their interpersonal, and often sexual, relationships and the drama that unfolds. This is a growing, slash-only storyline of 42 students of The Academy. Each student is based off of a pre-made paragraph, with established plots but with room for growth as the game progresses.

Rules
1. First and most important: Respect. It goes two ways. The mods are basically here for the dirty little administrative issues, and the game is player-determined (and this extends to the applications. Character applications are posted for all current players to view, and then they are voted upon. This is so that everyone has a say on who they play with. Once a decision has been reached, the application will be taken down from the OOC board). That means that respect for everyone is especially important, and OOC and IC should stay separate at all times. It goes without saying that what happens in the game shouldn’t affect the way you interact with others outside of it and a no tolerance policy will apply.
2. Activity. Everyone has lives outside of the internet and that’s to be expected, but activity is the heart of any good game. Characters are expected to update their journals and/or participate in threads at least once every two weeks, or four weeks for alumni who have graduated. This is mandatory. Updates can be eight pages or one-liners or picture posts or lyrics - whatever your character prefers. The point is to create activity and interaction. If a character fails to meet this expectation they will receive one warning and then face removal. Thus we ask that mods be notified of any neccessary hiatus so it can be noted and characters will not be removed.
As well: AIM and comment activity are just as important. Players are asked to make themselves available on AIM on at least a semi-regular basis for logs, chats and general plotting. If this is a problem it can be discussed, but activity is the goal. If a character is meeting the update quota but continuously fails to participate sufficiently in the game otherwise over a period of four weeks then they will receive a warning and subsequently face removal if warranted.
Do NOT disable comments on general journal posts. Private posts are okay to be disabled.
The mods have no desire to become the community police so we ask only players who are interested in active, dynamic storylines to apply.
3. Content. Storylines are going to happen and their ratings will vary. Just be sure to mark anything adult clearly and put it behind a cut. If you have an idea for a storyline that's really out there, run it past a mod first, but we do encourage free creativity. Otherwise we just ask that characters stay vaguely within their original guidelines – no turning The Frat Boy into a goth who writes sonnets overnight, please. (Alright, it might be funny. But still: no.) Character journals and screen names should be relevant to the character's own name for the sake of clarity.
Note! Entries in the threading/IC community ashburyic are not to be locked so that potential applicants can get a feel for the game. While it would be more readable to have everything unlocked, journals can be locked or not at the players' discretion. Threads that have a rating of R or NC-17 are to be locked.
4. Communities. For every post that is done at omgwtf or hoots, a new interactive journal post or Log/Thread must be posted in the Ashbury IC or Alumni community.
5. Secrets. Anonymous secrets like roleplaysecrets or post secrets are posted at secretly. You may post with your character journals or with ashburyanon. Keep secrets dramafilled to promote plot, but if this community or the journal is abused, it will be taken away. Check with other players about revealing secrets about characters that affect others, or secrets that don't belong to your character.

Taken and Held
Comment here to hold a character. All holds are for 48 hours unless noted otherwise.
Anonymous holds are not accepted, please log in with a journal so we can contact you in the case of any questions.
For previously played characters, take a look at the journals/storylines and talk to the players involved to see what can be kept. You do not have to remake someone else's character, but contacting other players will help make the transition into the game easier.
